Fangyland Golf Course

The QEII has been in dry dock for quite some time following Wazzaplumber’s efforts install a pool on the top deck. ( I just love the way my auto correct suggests Wazzasaggytit whenever I type Wazza). Anyhoo, looking out the front here, I decided that it was time to take up Swindy’s suggestion and head out for a round of golf. Luckily, I had installed a Driving Range on the QEII where the pool used to be. In order to get around the greens I went Elmo big. QEII, KaRace 9.5 and the DecrepitVader 30 monster delta fin.

The result is probably the most enjoyable round of golf I have played. Some the greens were a bit lush and could have down with a serious mowing. Poor form was on show too; previous golfers (from last week) had obviously been hooning, and their tracks across the greens were still visible!

But the piece and quiet and mile of shooooosh across the course made up for the disrespectful blighters and I was only bothered by an overprotective duck. Daffy spent the afternoon periodically swooping low and then splashing and squawking in front of me to decoy me away from his family. (They were way down past Grumpynuts ). Apart from that, a poorly fitting fin meant I traversed the greens like a combine harvester and in turn, I had to unload my harvest at the end of each run.  Regardless of minor inconveniences it was just a magic day out; a glorious sunny arvo, into a springsuit at last and so relaxing, Top Ten Fangy Cocktail Cruise.

Short investigative sail at Liptons to check the weed. Had about 15kts average, so went with the 6.6 53cm board with the filletted 21.

Had a few runs into thick weed at liptons, fun sailing across fangy's rival football pitch. Plenty of rope weed here as well so there was an occasional tug, and I could feel the  weed slowing me down a bit.

Wind seemed fairly consistent, so I headed off downwind to check the run to Ward Pt. Of course as soon as I was half way there the wind started to drop, and I had prolonged periods of groveling. Found some very heavy weed near Ward Pt shore, underpowered through it was very draggy, it was pulling the nose under water.

The rope weed looks a bit different here, not so much long single strands in roughly the same direction, more a tangle of strands going every wich way.
