Be careful what you wish for, itching for some decent wind to try out the new 80 and it blew and blew and blew! Touch overpowered when it was averaging 35 knots and gusting over 40. Problem was the chop, it was horrendous...nowhere to put the hammer down and let loose. In the channel a mile from shore the swells were the height of my house, the only smooth water was on their face. Rest of it a confused lumpy mess, the only only thing organised about it was the mayhem. With a fetch of 40 miles it's amazing how it gets chruned up, I'll never complain about the chop at the Waterfront Park again. Great training for La Defi, I doubt the conditions will be as bad there. Got off the water after an hour as I figured I was in for a big crash and I was the only person on the water or beach so no chance of rescue. Day 4 for this week so a good start to October, looks like another week of wind to come.
