7.5m turbo GT - RS4 - 38cms BP 50weedspeed
then 87ltre isonic with 20cms BP50weedspeed
then RS4 with 20cms BP50 weedspeed
I wanted to try out the new TurboGT. My shoulder handled things pretty well but I certainly noticed my lack of muscles and fitness..I can probably get if a bit fuller butgeneral feeling is it doesn't have the off the wind grunt of the OD but it is so beautiful and light!! It feels like my 6.6m Koncept. Usually I really notice the weight of the big sails subplaning and also find I have to get it just right gybing due to the swing weight etc. I hardly noticed the weight of the 7.5m subplaning. I didn't really get it that powered up but very happy so far and I'm looking forwards to trying it in 10-15kt in the chop on Lake Macquarie whic is what i really bought it for..It should be fun!
Got the 2 sec on the big board. looks like my only decent gybe of the day was too wide for an alpha.
I only did a few runs on the RS4 and decided to try the isonic to see how I went with the big sail.. Wasted the best wind coming in and changing. By the time I got out it was mainly 10-12kts so only a few runs and then back for the big board. Changed down to the smaller fin so I felt safer going in the shallows/ flats.Although I was never really fully powered I was surprised at how well the small fin hung in with the 7.5m.
I find the larger volume tail on the RS4 harder to dip the leeward rail. The Xcross had a pintail so it was easy..
The drake straps were a better shape after I took Lyd's advice and put some rectangular sanding blocks in them to help the shape but i hurt my toe due to not enough padding so I'll buy at least 2 dakines for the rear straps and have some comfort.
Mastfoot got stuck again- Thanks Pete! I'll try my modern one next sail and hope that fixes the problem.
Milsy , Mick , Pete , Bill , Tibor , Bruce ( got the Rs2 planing in c 10kts of wind! ), Norm and a few others..
JUst trying to build up my fitness and get my technique back again...
