I've been on the Tassie coast for just over a week, been no wind but loving it here. Rolled up to Stanley yesterday for a look and bugger me it was blowing. Yay, got the tourest stuff done with fingers crossed today would be the same, yep it was and first sail since Exmouth in August
Asked Barry a 1000 q's and got the guist of it, thanks mate. No way boardie weather but it was surprisingly mild, so my thin rubber was a-ok. Hit the first chanel but on 2nd run went over the front and smashed my old boom into a few pieces. No I don't know what happened, just an old fella brain fade, wasn't even in straps, boohoo.
Shot home and grabbed the other boom and the 6.6 sail it suits. Hmm 6.6 might not be good idea, the others were rigging small, ok give the big boom a go on the 5.8. had about 100mm sail to boom. In the end it worked great.
Waited for low tide for 3rd channnel and did the walk, had a great sail and not too cold till near the end, bolted when the locals did. No corners from me, I did try one but missed judged and ran out of water with big bail out, didn't bother after that. Didn't stop the locals on their speed boards doing nice u-turns, bastards.
I have to say, a great spot and great locals, the team chalenge comes through again. Was great to sail with Barry n Todd and a nice gesture for Cookie to call around home to say hi, chauffeured of course
CA SL87, Tribal SW27, 5.8 ka Koncept and a thin rubber.
