Windfoil Foilville/Waylen Bay WA

Ok that was a bit scary. 17-21kn with a 6.0 was too much. I was mostly in survival mode with multiple poo stances and frequent swearing. Had a big off after the best 2 sec speed with enough force to snap my already frayed harness strap so it was a grovel back.

Tried the seat harness which feels more solid but may take some getting used to with the foil.

Whats hard at 25kn is the foil tends to get sensitive. I think the mast drag increases at speed then starts to pull the nose of the board down, so i try to shift my weight slightly rearward to counteract it but with the added wind gusts in the sail, it also tends to lift the foil as well. You can imagine its a but of a fight to keep things stable.

Good to try in stronger wind but next time a smaller sail is needed, or I'll just stick to the cruisy 15kn

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Quick sail at smellville. I would have liked to have been out earlier but after a week of night shift, a couple of hours of sleep wasn't quite enough and I slept through a lot of the sea breeze. Still a great first day back in the land of the normality.

Thanks Geoff for making sure I didn't rig the 6.2M, in hind sight I possibly would have been better off on a 7.8M

Checked out Wally World. Tide was perfect but there wasn't quite enough wind so I chased the ferry back to look for the gusts at melville. Had a great stck when my front foot came out of the foot strap on a down wind run, happily surprised to see the sail is still in one piece.

Coodanup M91, 6.2 Koncept, 23 Pepeweed

My first trek to Coodanup for the year and I almost didn't get to sail. The boom clips on my favourite boom had corroded and snapped and my spare boom didn't have an rdm adapter. Many thanks to Swindy who rescued a lady in distress by loaning her an rdm adapter. Unfortunately I didn't have any fin screws long enough to try a fangy fin so I had to use my ol trusty pepeweed, which still worked like a charm.

The weed was thick in parts but plenty of areas without weed if you don't have delta style fins. The weedy smooth was a joy to slide across though...

(late post due to power failure when I got home last night)
