5-20kts SSE Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU
7m OD M1 - 87isonic - 19cm kestrel
then RS4 ( 111ltre) - 24cm FF
Absolute crap.. Hard work..but INCREDIBLE in the glass!!
If only we could get a consistent 20kts plus S or SSW...
I was out early on my lonesome. It was hard work to get to the flats. brandon Lane would have been a better launch.
I found the kestrel a bit deep if I came off the plane or trying to start without much wind it would be on the bottom so a lot of short runs. So no inside gybes either.. Typical SSE. Big dead patches but some good gusts at first. The powered bearaway early on made it all worthwhile.. Absolute glass with no sign of wind.. the problem was there was no way of knowing if there was wind or not until it hit you and then it might hang in for a few 100m or drop out after 20ms. Most of the time you couldn't really commit to the harness etc as it might disappear in the next 20m..
Grr first go using the wizmount for the go pro. I was looking forward to incredible footage flying through dead flat glass but I stuffed up.. I put the power on but didn't tell it to video so I got nothing..... I took it out later but on the big board and it was even crappier by then and I stayed out of the glass.
I went back out with the larger board to do some long runs in the chop where the wind was better. I managed to spin out the FF a few times for the first time but it came back in very easily. I think my harness lines were too far forward as it came good after I fixed them. It was a 111ltre board with 7m and 24cm fin in 2 ' chop...
Andrew turned up then Matt & Milsy from Brandon , Paul and others from Buff.

RS4 exocet, s2 venom 7.7, BP42 fin
Sailed from caravan park all the way up to sailing club along way up wind but it was great untill I got there and the wind died so the fun I thought I was going to have down wind was just hard work.
Heaps of weed so much I worked out you must do 20 knots or it catches on the 40 deg fin.
Flat water at the caravan park for lake sailing it is so good trying diferent spots it is a diferent experiance every where you go.
You could do big speeds here given some strong winds.

Favourable conditions so set off on a long sail (for me anyway) covered some gound, decent wind all the way up wind, first part of down hill patchy.
leg burn on the way back kicks in at 2.5, unsailable after 3.5km on one tack downhill
Great lake, great adventure
