Feeling full of hope, considering the forcast, and with a leave pass I decided to get as far away as I could and headed to Mandurah.
Arrived about 12 to a SE'er and no one around except some crabby people. Went to get some lunch and came back to not alot of change. Parked it on a towel, ate lunch and watched the heat haze rising. I got to say the chicken sandwich was accompanied beautifully by the rotting weed on the shore. It looked lovely with a light mould, different shades and colours and various states of decomposition.
By 2 I was starting to get a bit nervous I cant remember not getting a sail in down here. Not wanting to tell the wife I drive all this way and didn't get wet I decided to rig up and take my chances walking through the Shitweed zone. As the bugs flew around me and my feet quickly sunk ankle deep in foul smelling mud I wondered what Cujo like desease is was going to end up with. I quickly realised the follie of my decision. Lots of floating around watching the pretty blue crabs and little fish darting through the weed was as good as it got. All that marine life watching worn me out so not wanting to brave the Shitweed again I sat on board and took a closer look at the fishes.
After a good hour I called it a day and squelched my way through the crap only to see Mike whaitng on the bench and telling me I had come in too soon. I turned around and where 1 minute ago there was nothing now it was 15knts and reasonable steady.
Grabbed a drink and headed back out. had a nice little sail with Mike for an hour or 2. No big gusts. but fun to sample the smooth again. Had a 32.6 2sec on screen but as I said to Mike it was a bit peaky.
