Decided on a day trip as the wind forcast looked better the the Bog.. Arrived as Jason and Kym were about to go out. J gave me the run down as it was my first time sailing Stansbury.
As I was rigging Jeff turned up and gave me a much more detail of where to sail. The wind was quite south so Jeff suggested I go out on the 115 with the 6.3 as it should swing SSE/SE and drop out a bit. The other two boys were having good runs on the southern side of the oyster leases. Headed out eventually but due the southerly wind direction sailled staight into the spit and came to an abrupt holt in ancle deep water. Didn't realise the tide have dropped so quickly. Had to trudge 200 metres in the mud to sailable depth. Was recovering when Jeff came out and stopped to say hi again and advise were to go now I was on the water. He took off to the horizon I had one run then the wind picked up to 25+. Way over powered sail and board wise. Decided to go in and change down to a 5.5 , Jeff wasn't far behind me. The tide had receeded more so was a long treck in. Went out again on the 5.5 and you guessed it, the wind dropped out to virtually nothing. Decided to go back in and re rig the 6.3 again. Jeff said it was probably the low tide lull and it should come back on. Put the 6.3 into the 92 and did the long treck out again. Only had to wait a short time and it came in but with a little more east in it. Great heading out but found it hard to point heading in as first time on a weed fin. Some really glassy areas and lots of smooth. Unfortunely for me, I was stuffed after a short time having to trudge back and forth so many times.
So all in all a resonable day. The 2 sec is equal second fastest for me, so definitley will go back now that I know the layout. ( but probable an over nighter next time )
Thanks Jeff and Jay for you welcoming advice.
