Lake George, SA

Yet another fun day on the windy, weedy lake. Tongue out

Got out on the water at about 3pm, but on other peoples gear. Checked out some different sails and boards for a few runs. Laughing

Then rigged my brand New 2018 5.0m Koncept. Looked nice in the grass. Had some runs on the speed board. WOW! The changes we made for this year really shine, in this size especially. Super nice feeling reaching and upwind and especially great drive downwind. I was really chuffed to say the least. I dont think there was any more wind than yesterday when I used the 2017 5.4m, but today I was consistently faster, and the feeling was much nicer. Now I will have to see if I can get a 2018 5.4m as I skipped replacing this size this year.

The first run was the fastest. After that the wind seemed to ease a bit, but came back slightly at about 6pm. Wind graph at Robe showed the same pattern so I don't think we were imagining it.

Wind Solid 25, gusting high20's, maybe 30 a few times briefly

Lots of speed runs but didnt try for anything else. Maybe tomorrow..... Laughing

Thanks Bradman. Probably not next week as the forecasts look mild and iffy. Long range forecasts have the week after possibly being good again. It'd be great to see you here! Laughing

well done Daffy Cool

I read your comment about the 2nd diff between 2s and NM..

What MIke is saying and what I think too, is the 2s on the NM not 2s of the day Tongue out

Albany weeds has nothing to do with LG, its WAY thicker and abrasive that LGs, there is at least 4 types in there and will destroy a carbon in 1 session, and will have to reshape your G10 every after every sessions, lot of resistance!! Yell

Thanks Sammy. LG weed is MUCH thicker this year. All the new growth is like on steroids! :-) 40 degree weedies are only JUST cutting it at full speed. If you stop in the thick stuff, it is not possible to get going again. It is still fine everywhere else. It is not abrasive like the Albany weed though. Smile

On my 37 kt NM I had a 42 peak. Too many holes between gusts on the south side of the lake but that is where all the weed is. Hardly any weed around Cockies. Cry

Sammy and I both tried the straight NM, from start to finish. It's a longer run and eliminates the slow start and finish. Trouble is there's some very thick weed 3/4 of the way along the track. We both came close to going over the front, my speed dropped from 35kts to 27kts in 6 seconds.

Sammy had slowy's latest super weedy, huge curved rake and 16cm deep. I had my 55d 18cm starboard assy on.

Yet we'd both gone through weed that didn't look a lot different without feeling it.
