Kyeemagh gas station, NSW, AU || 20-25 S

RS2/ Koncept 6.2/ VMax custom 33

Wrong gear, should have taken the FSW and a smaller sail. Chop was huge, failed all the jibes. Tried moving the straps forward and it was much better for control and less spin out. Then had to wait 1 hour for NRMA to unlock my car and got too cold to start again.

Day 2 of the Oz Championships at Kyeemagh, in a 20kt Sutherly! With some hell of a lot of chop.

The windward mark was a NM into the nightmare swell, that was LARGER than the windfoil mast height at times... meaning you couldn't fly over it or you would run out of water.

3 races today.

1: Made it upwind OK, but then downwind... urgh rose up on the swell, which gave me more board speed (surfing), but then I'd crash nose first into the next wave and go down... too many times to remember.

2: Though about my mistakes... tried a different tactic, sailing downwind at a more relaxed angle, staying on one wave until it flattened, then turn downwind for the next lineup before turning slightly upwind (well less down) to ride it when a gust hit... Seemed to work better!

3: Went port early to try and avoid some swell on the upwind leg. Failed. Downwind was awful, watched half the fleet cross in front of me as I chased them (and over-cooked it...). Urgh.

Still, came away with 2nd overall in the Free Race series! Hurray :)

OK about the wrong gear and locked car powersloshin. Wonder why we don't get out the wave boards in those conditions. Tongue out

Top effort and congratulations AlfaMale for a superb second on your foil contraption thingy. Hard enough going level and in a straight line let alone around a course in a lumpy Botany Bay.
