2226 days ago holloways beach with Bill and Ben. Better wind than expected so used the 6.6 ka kyote and the RRD X Fire 102..... was a little under done at times but generally was a good sail. As we finished looked like a storm was coming....but nothing as yet.
Billy looked good(with a few blemishes) and should get man of the match...Benny was not as happy with today sail as it was a little inconsistant.
Good to get out ....great company.

Nice little sail with B1 & Freddo. Felt a bit clackety on the rig...too much downhaul perhaps for the conditions in the Holloway's "Smooth".
B1 brought his drill whistle today (not metaphorically, yes an actual whistle!) barking encouragement as usual= a little progression with the front foot in the straps for some runs making the chop a little easier to contend with.
B1 & Freddo were both sailing well- must have had magnets on their boards considering the close numbers!
Bit of sea life present with jumping fish and sea snakes sighted on a few occasions.
Appreciated the time out on the water with good company. Much more training required...

Nice little session with Fred and Benny. OK, back again. Missed the best of the breeze earlier in the morning but it was nice to be out, especially at this time of the year. The mission this year is to take the NIBB - "New Improved Blue Bludger" to 30 knts and today was a test day. Now, I must point out that by saying "New & Improved" I'm really only admitting to a new paint job, all previous repair work (apparently NOT covered by Lifetime Warranty) hidden, re gripped by mothers supply of sugar from the pantry, new pads and the same old busted foot straps, its still Ed's old AHD Diamond. Just "New and Improved" .
Any way, ive digressed. The aim in 2018 is to take the old girl into the 30knt range. It didnt happen today.....The wind line progressivley moved away from the beach as the afternoon wore on and with an in coming storm system approaching from the East, it was all over the shop. Reasonably lit up out the back, but in close I really struggled to hold a planing run into the beach. Fred was dancing to his usual tunes. Very accomplished for an old man. He just has a lightness and fluidity to his movements and works so hard to keep things moving along, although at a some what wheel chair bound speed . Benny the lad had an in different session and wasnt able to get his mojo happening today but with characteristic style, had a smile on his dial even after his walk of shame.

2226 days ago Port Douglas, QLD, AU Was in cairns for most of the day and wind looked good.. but by the time i maneged to drag my 'sorry ass 'down the beach for a late arvo session the wind was on its way out..Can't rember the last time i had a good sail ..So rigged the biggest gear i have ..Burnt out 7.8m Gastra on 117 Isonic 44cm fin..Mannaged to stay' lit up' till dark..Had a strong current running so had to stay hard on the wind the whole time ,But had a bit of fun playing in a choppy sea out hide..And on the bright side of things ,i managed to make friends with my new Severn boom..It is a very different shape to any thing i have ever used, but it felt sweet by the end of the session so now it is hanging with the rest of my gear and not in the wheelie bin so i guess thats a good thing... the outher good thing was my rashie was still dry at the end of session..Think some of the boys went to Holloways for a sail so at least this might be some back up for them Cheers Ed..
