Benny McCarthy (14614km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Nice little fun sail with Freddo in something like 14-17kn. On the water around 1145am this morning. The sun was shining... the sea was sparkling... the water temperature was terrific... there were pretty girls on the beach..... and Freddo looked amazing! Poor Gaz got to the beach just as the wind decided to drop out... Wind seemed to come back in just as we were leaving again. Good to have the Futura back out on the water again (thanks again Gaz for the repair)- rigged with 7.4 Loft O2 freeride & 42.5 BP Sabre. Took it a bit easier today as the ribs were still tender from last week's stack- happy with the NM considering Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums out there!! "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"
Andrew (2314km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU Had a tough time of it today - looked really promising all the way back from Cairns for Mothers' Day with Mum and Wendy at the Aquarium. Thought I'd rig the trusty Severne Turbo GT 6.5 = on the Atomiq 120 with the weed fin sweeping away all the pesky green stuff - this thing has paid for itself - I don't even think I'l bother changing it to anything else = was white caps when I rigged and then when I got out there all the white caps were gone =- spent an hour swearing at myself and wondering whether it would kick back in or go back in for a changeup . Ended up swallowing my pride just as my mate, Ed turned up - he had his 6.6 S-Type rigged and I'd wondered if he would have any luck - using his skill he pumped that thing up onto the plane and seeemd pretty happy with himself. The 7.2 Neil Pryde V8 is just that - the thing pulls like a train - kept me out there in the water all afternoon - this week looks like a rare one - with heaps of wind on the charts.
Eddy (23915km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU..Quick late arvo sail never hit the water till after 4 oclock..wind was dodgey should of rigged 7.8 but was feeling a bit too shagged..just managed to get by on 6.6 North on 97 isonic big fin..Dropped a few Jibes which annoyed me a bit, dodgy wind small board was the problem..would of been nice to get my 70kms in but it started to get dark so it was game over..Andrew had a good session and looked great blasting around on a big rig..He was on the water before me and sailed untill full time well done mate..I suppose it was worth rigging for.Cheers Ed..
Freddy Burke (12114km): Sailed with Benny at Holloways....wind was stronger than yesterday but was a long way out. Once you got to the wind it was ok but then coming back in took some patience! Benny sailed very well, headed out up wind and stayed up wind and out of sight for practially the whole session...he is really improving and hopefully his numbers will reflect that.
