HR Sandbar Channel course

NP EVO8 5.6

SpeedRoo Naish SP 80 replica

Vector Raven 28

Finally a sandbar after record high river levels for the past month. Less than 100m of sand but I'll take anything. Wild gusts of wind swinging every which way and blowing sand. Bitching Betty was belting out the speeds and I heard her scream 40. Software knocked it down a knot but who cares. Got hit by a UFO (unidentified falling object) when heading back upwind at the end of the session, something dropped out of the sky and knocked me on the top of the head. Thought I had broken my mast but no damage. Slight concussion so binned it for the rest of the day. There was no one else around and I didn't see anything or hear it but sure felt it, nice egged sized bump and slight cut to show for it.

Yikes!! Wonder what getting hit by goose poop at 40 - 60 knots feels like? Just one more reason I wear a helmet :).

Glad you are getting a sandbar back again. Towards the end of the Summer will there be real sandbar or is the water level now down to normal summer levels now?

Maybe Bombus? Poor bug, probably didn't survive the incounter.

Is there any movement on Lyle sandbar?

Has reformed since last year, high water scoured out all the silt and opened it up nicely. Should be back on this season. Water levels are ideal at the moment for it to work, the Hole in The Wall may also be back on.

Hmmm, maybe I should consider making a trip to Gorge later this Summer...How is the access to the sand bar there? I have 14' Seadoo jet boat, just big enough to load it with gear and three persons, may be worth it taking it with me? Are there any restrictions for two stroke engines on the river?

Not sure how long the run is, might be fairly short. No restrictions on 2 stroke, my Seadoo jetboat works fine here. Will walk the course and measure it next time I'm down there. Can still park and walk across to the strip without crossing the railway tracks so access not really a problem.
