2047 days ago Quick and cool splash at Fangyland with Cap'n Calm and Ratz. First try on my latest vintage board. This time it's a Mistral 284 Flow plastic fantastic from the late nineties.
Koncept 6.6, FF24 was the first combo. The board is supposedly 115 litres, but with me on board it still sank. Hmm maybe too many pies on board. I mucked around with mast foot positions, sail tensions etc but I couldn't quite get comfortable or bear off on a deep angle when the gusts came through. It seemed as though I couldn't lean aft enough, point the toes and try to fly on the fin. The strong gusts leaving me a tad overpowered, didn't help the cause either. Regardless, I had fun while I was on the water, but it was tiring having to stop and start and wrestle rig and board. With responsible parenting time looming fast I came in to reassess. The result was Plan B. Replace and move the foot straps back and see if the weight shift back helps next time out. I suspect that a FF22 with the 6.6 would have been better too, as I at times I felt over finned as well. Still, there seemed to be enough potential in the old girl and I think it will be a fun board, especially to gybe.
To end on a bright note, two out of three mobbers didn't lock their keys in the car, nor ask wifey to drive for over an hour to bring the spare. The fastest evaporating brownie points I have seen in a long while.

2047 days ago Didn't have too many hopes for today's sail, at midday, instead of forecast 20kts we had 5kts. However after lunch wind started to pick up, so joined Ratz at Fangys, wher I measured 22gusts and 15 average. Let Fangy know, but I don't think he believed me, as he arrived without trailer. Of course the wind had also dropped back to 10 kts, and he was vacilating. But the need to get his board home saw him coming back with trailer, which also brought the wind back.
I'd gone with the 6.3 koncept 53 and 20cm@55 deltoid, but the wind continued to pick up so I also plugged the 19cm@55 deltoid into the new 48.
started with the bigger board, as wind had died a bit by the time I was ready to hit the water. Wasn't long though before I came in for the smaller board.
This is the best alpha so far on the new board. I had worried it would be a bit sticky coming out of the gybe, but it was fine.

Life's a beach, another quicky, this year the wind has been nearly always blowing off shore, after my first crappy sail in those conditions I couldn't be bothered repeating the experience so only has a couple of SWers. Again I was the only windsurfer with a couple of kites, nice guys. It's been a ripper holiday up here as usual, lots of great days with happy wife just no sailing but lifes great.
Heading home now via Mt Augustus etc, should be back in about a month
