MAN that was fun Laughing

A quick sail after work and missed all the flat water. Rigged the 5.8 onto the speed board in a attempt at getting one good speed before the bank went under. No wind went WNW as I hit the run, so no go fast Yell. Missed it.....ok play time then on the slalom gear in the crazy chop.

What a blast, a bit over cooked with the 5.8 (You were right Kempster). But dancing across the chop on the edge of control Tongue outTongue outTongue out was just the best way to finish a Monday.

Got smashed in a wind change squall and all I could do is just smile at how much fun this stuff is.

Not a long session as the wind kept switching wnw to w 25 to 35Kts and the chop was just crazy with the incoming tide. Another 2 hrs of water over the bars would have sorted out the direction a little . More wind this week Tongue out

Sandy Point Victoria.

Probably as good as I expected with the WNW wind forecasts.

Boy was it strong in the gusts!! Surprised I estimate 35-40 in micro bullets. Yanakie AWS had a few gusts to 40 and one later to 45Kts!

But where we were sailing on the boat hole sandbar it was pretty much dead square and as gusty as all get out. 20 knots to 35+!

Far too square for any speed but it was fun wrestling with the gusts. Laughing

I was super impressed with the new 5.2m Koncept sail. A few times I saw the white froth on the water from a huge bullet gust and thought I was about to be swatted, but no, the sail just shook and stayed stable, the head twisting off and the power staying low. pretty impressibe to me. Not many, if any, sails I have had in the past could have handled that so well. And I could still have the sail quite deep and full in the boom area, so I think this is a big step forward for sure.Tongue out

i managed to get one bearaway from the bank in a gust and got a peak of 37, but mostly they were below 34.

I tried one run right down the speed course when I thought the wind had swung WSW a bit, but although the angle was OK, there was no gust at all. As I was walking back the wind was looking at the right angle but by the time I got to the top it was back in the West-WNW.

The next run was the bearaway from the bank and I tried to sail though again after it, and got stuck in the dune windshadow. After that i was pretty much all over. We waited a while to see if the forecast swing to the WSW would happen but it didnt so we packed up.

Thanks to Craig Cole for insiring me to even sail. I had a really fun time, despite the lack of speed. Laughing
