Safety Bay, Western Australia. No wind in Mandurah today but enough to be nicely powered on 6.3/89 20 miles further north. Nice spot that reminded me of Bonaire, with a large shallow area and a deeper area next to it. The chop in the deeper area was a bit more chaotic than Bonaire, though - more like Kalmus in a SW at mid-tide. Used the Fangy Fin 22 and it worked great in the chop, but I had the feeling a regular weedie would have been a bit better in the chop. I stopped a lot to see where Nina was, getting fooled by other orange-red sails several times. Eventually decided to go in to check. Nina just finished derriging with help from a few locals after breaking a mast (mid-run, no crash) and swimming back 20 minutes.

Safety Bay, WA. Place looked nice, but my mast snapped after 2 runs, so I didn't get to experience any of it except for the nice water temperature...

Al, there must have been some miscommunication - we're in Australia this year, not Corpus! We even have an extra room you could use Laughing. Make sure to check out Grassy Point! After sailing Coodanup (also known as Fangy's Weed Farm), I can say with absolute certaintly that the water there is deep and almost free of weeds Smile.

Peter, I'm aware you're in Australia, just saying its great to see your trip paid off. I just got back from Corpus Christie. I will definitely make it out to Australia but only after retiring.

TBob, thank you for helping me with the car and overall. I saw a couple of posts poking out of the water that I had to avoid. I was lucky I didn't crash. I need to sail there for more often to get more famililar with the area.
