It was quite a warm breeze on arrival but filled in nicely with good power on the 7.0.

Amazing how much cooler it is at the beach, it was 11 degrees warmer at home.

Just enough to get wet at Melville, should have gone to SB but still was fun catching up with a few Pinnas, good to see Ricey out there, Tim and Kenny decided not to sail, Even Hooksey was out there with the big gear.

Drops KAR 7.1

An interesting lesson in looking out for your friends. I headed from Dutch to Rous with Crimson Dan, got up there and waited a while for him , but he didn't turn up, I then went back to Dutch for a look...still no Dan? I headed back up to Rous  and about 1.5 kays out I saw an object that turned out to be him, floating like shark bait with a broken mast. I figured it could go offshore so told him I was off for help. JJ rang the rescue and they showed up pretty quickly (Police boat) and Dan was towed back to Dutch Inn.

Just for thought, Dan said don't worry about it and that he'd paddle in. My take on these scenarios, and I've seen a fair few dramas on the water, is to act as quickly as possible and rather be embarrassed by over reacting and being cautious than having a dangerous or life threatening incident. Time is your enemy when things go wrong so get help fast.

His rescue sounds simple and uneventful but that's a good thing. An hour later the sun had set...and it went offshore , and he was at least 2 hours off the beach when rescued . Smile .

Arrived to a moderate wind that died and died

At least gor wet on a hot day.

Boz made the most of the moderate wind before it died. Good to chat with Kenny and say hello to Andrew and Tim

Brief sail to Point Walter and back with Mr White before the breeze faded.

Very glad to hear that Dan is ok. Well done to the rescue team - hesitation is not your friend in that situation.

Hot southerly booted in to 25 in the gusts - overpowered with the Infinity 76 wing and 5m Blacktip.

Visited Sculptures by the Sea at Cott and had an upwind drag with Neil - what's not to like - awesome session Smile

Glad Daniel got in unscathed - props to Neil and the Water Police Cool

Good job Neil and JJ. ( and I totally agree with Neil with stuff going bad fast when on the ocean) Very relieved to hear all OK Dan! Laughing

Good call, Neil, and thanks for your vigilance. Too far to swim in an offshore breeze.

We look forward to Crimson's post to hear the first hand account of the events.

ARC PLB at BCF is $300 the best insurance for ocean sailing, small enough to fit in a pocket, waterproof, sends a signal for 24 hrs once activated.

Good work Neil,

Ditto on the PLB.

I always carry mine when I'm sailing on the ocean.  Cheap insurance. Cool
