Safety Bay, WA, AU M91, 6.2K, 21 Tribal ultraweed

My first Safety Bay session of the season. 15 - 20 knots in the pond. A short but cruisy session. Very shallow over the sandbar - perfectly flat - the easiest 30 knots I have ever done - I was expecting only mid 20's and almost didn't even bother doing any speed runs.

Kiters kept mostly to their half of the pond and the lower sand bar was free for speed runs. No close calls today. Good fun, and good to be out on the Mistral again - I haven't used it for ages.

Carlisle St, Safety Bay, WA, AU

Went to Safety Bay to try out the mistral 91 after all the repairs. Seemed to work ok but was a bit of a handful in the high tide chop and swell. Changed to the 72 ltr board and felt much more comfy but should have used a smaller fin. Tide dropped a little and there were some small patches of flat water near penguin island.

Went down to the pond afterwards to chat with captain but she was already pulling out of the carpark.

6.2 Overdrive, 91 mistral then 72 JP slalom, 27 C3sting weedy, 25 tribal ws.

Late arvo sesh at Dutchies.

I rocked up at 3:30 and it looked pretty fresh, so I rigged the M112 + 7.4 Koyote + 33 Tribal WS combo.

I had a great sesh.  Tacked up to Port Beach, and had a crack at a downwind hour on the way back to Dutchies.  I hit a couple of holes inshore at Leighton, and had a couple of crashes coming unstuck when the board got airborne, so it was never gonna be quick, but it was bloody exhilarating charging downwind through the chop and swell Laughing

Nice way to wrap up the weekend. Cool

Havent uploaded anything in ages but have been sailing heaps (waves). Great to be back sailing on the flat water again.

Great to catch-up with fellow Pinnas.

Anyone wanting to sell a Patrik 120l free race board?

115l Patrik Slalom, 8.5m Racing Blad, 42cm Zulu fin (anyone looking to buy?)

Impressive distance and hour Kenny, Funny, after I pulled out of the carpark  I drove to Carlisle St to see if you were there.

I came in because I was worried about running aground on the sandbar and didn't want to push my luck.

Surprisingly similar 2 sec and 5X for the two of us. Same size sail, were your speeds on the Mistral or the JP?
