1846 days ago Lake George, SA, AU Well no hail squalls today but still cold. Went from a 5.7 koncept yesterday to a 6.6 KA today as the wind was a bit patchy and i was on the clock. Kimba was out again flying around with a glued up battern which didnt slow him down and as i was leaving it looked like the wind was kicking in again. Got back to camp to find my wife had packed up the whole camp and was ready to hit the road. Was this a sign?. I recall her saying that she was over this f------ wind, i think it will be easier for her next time as it wont be our honeymoon. Great to meet you Kimba, sorry i couldnt spend more time on the water with you. You know the deal!!!

Another Fun day!
Wind was SW, meaning the speed course was just a bit too tight, but that means very flat water. While I was rigging it was just after a squall and it looked to have dropped back to 15-20. I was thinking of rigging a second sail, the 5.7m, but just as I finished rigging, it kicked in again to 20-25. so I took the JP slalom54 (70l) for a test run. Pretty nice but not really enough for the speed board. Great fun blasting up and down almost square and powered up. After a while a squall came through as I did a run and saw a 38.6. Thats enough wind! May have been a 40 on the speed board. I went back and walked it down to the gap in the dunes, but by then the wind has eased again. Did another run on the Slalom, and thought it was worth a try on the speed. The first couple of runs were 36's, but then I timed a squall and saw 40.6 on the watch peak speed. Thats more like it. The wind swung in the squall so it was actually the perfect angle and very flat. I tried to sail upwind quickly to do another run before it eased but I had to tack to make it. Missed it.
The wind seemed to be getting slightly stronger on average so I stayed on the speed from then on. Got another mild squall or two but they stayed tight. Saw another fake 40 peak, but that was it. After over 3hrs of that I was knackered, so I walked back to the cars. While I was derigging, another squall came through which had sand streaming off the dunes and whitecaps right across the inlet. Oh well, you can't catch them all.
The weather has gone MAD! There are fronts marching through every week like we should have got in Spring but didn't.
