Byron Mcilveen (63506km): Teralba, NSW, AU falcon 115, s2 venom 7, select v max 37 and 35 very gusty and heapd of boats very happy with speed in that size chop we just didnt get the wind strength others got but we got wind way before everytwhere else. back very sore had to stop, hope its ok tomorow.
Greg Kiskarpati (20229km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU
Andrew Haigh (48704km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Quite a day. For once the forecast was spot on. No wind until 3pm and then lots! Sue texted that the wind had arrived at Peelie but I still had nothing at Buffo, which is only 2km away. So I started to rig the 6.2. Within minutes I had trouble rigging due to the wind. FF70, 17cm fin and 6.2m. 20-28 kts and no sign of any flat water. After all the recent rain and run off the lake was literally black. This is my first session posted with the Motion GPS. Bit of a drama converting from OAO to UBX to SBP then into KA72 (But this will soon be fixed) Very pleasing to see the exact numbers that I saw out on the water coming out of KA72 ...........Motion Display.....Motion KA72.........GT31 KA72 2 Sec 36.67 36.67 36.54 5*10 34.90 34.90 34.80 1 Hour 9.54 13.34 13.31 Alpha 22.67 22.61 22.58 NM 26.32 26.34 26.31 Dist 42.55 42.69 42.41
The only discrepancy is the 'hour' that is because the Motion displays the average speed for each whole hour after you press the reset button, not your best overall hour. After a summer of poor GPS reception, especially with the GW60 watch it was nice to see between 20-24 satellites being tracked
rus13b (5064km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 5.6 r6 sl91 tribal 25ws was good sail, 3rd sail in 3 months so gumby mode out there. 1 run out & bak for more down haul. then i could hold it & it was ruff, water heaps high & black, real dirty looking. not a bad speed, missed first 6 gybes in a row & front foot was coming out of the strap. more sailing needed thats all. plenty dwn there 10 15 guys & girl.
Glenn Rumford (10539km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Isonic 117 litre, Severne 8.6 Reflex 7.....a touch big for my 70kg. Unlike Byron, I had more wind than I wanted.
Mick Saunders (11615km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Out and back. Too gusty. formula 159 deb 70 maui 9.2 m
sboardcrazy (24291km): 20-30kts w - WSW Peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.46 5.5m Mach2 - 80ltre iso- 21.5cm FF ( cutdown 24) then 70ltre patrick - 16cm tribal delta Rough as guts! Like Lake george on a big day.. Got there early and took a punt and rigged small. It took a few hours before it kicked in and then I could have used the 5m but I had the 5.5m rigged so out I went. One of those sails where at the time you're too focused on staying in one piece to think of anything else but after it's " wow that was scary but a total buzz " 10" - 1ft waves, the area down near Buff was a little flatter at first 6-8" triangular bumps but it got choppy as the wind came in. Did a hang on for grim death nm to get down there. Looked at the watch and I think top speed was only 29kts.. . Hung around there for a while and got a few high 31's which I thought was pretty good for my weight in those conditions. Stoked with the alpha as it was pretty bumpy and full on.. I used the thick foiled FF as I wanted something that wasn't going to let go while I was overpowered in the chop. The gusts were getting pretty wild and I was worried about getting lifted so I thought I'd come in and get the 5m. Bit of a hary work back. I decided to change boards to the 70 patrick. I was going to put the 18cm Ff in it as I know I can trust it in biggish chop but the board doesn't like it as much as the tribal and I knew I'd have to get used to the 70-tribal combo eventually. Andrew said it was the waterstate rather than the wind strength so I went back out with the 5.5m. Mmm I should have changed down. I wasn't keen on doing a nm with the unknow combo .If the tribal had let go in those conditions it wouldn't be pretty.. Anyway I did go for another nm and although it was survival mode the combo was terrific! The Patrick just cut through the chop , the fin didn't look like letting go and although I was mega powered the sail was very well behaved. I'm looking forward to getting better with that combo and hitting some flatwater.. As expected I hated the Mach2 off Coal in B & J conditions ( shouldn't have sold my 5.7m OD ) but it was great at Budgy. Even though at times I felt I was on the verge of getting lifted the combo was very user friendly. Got the 2 sec starting through the bigger chop and finishing in choppy but slightly smaller conditions. I'm pretty happy with that for the conditions and it was getting pretty wild so I decided to get home while I was still in one piece. I could have gone back out with the 5m but it was 5pm so called it quits. I'm probably lucky I didn't stack it but I'm still buzzing..
