Marlo, Vic

I was going to Sandy Pt, but on Friday arvo Issac called to say that he had stopped at Marlo, the entrance was open, and it looked worth a try. The forecast for SP was fading fast so I thought the adventure would be good, with more wind forecast further east.

Arrived at 10pm Friday night and parked. Fantastic when the front hit in early hours of moring. pelting rain and the van shaking in the wind! Woke just on dawn and crawled out to have a look. Wind was just south of waet and only about 15 knots. Went and waited for the Coffee shop to open and Gary came in soon after.

It seemed there was no hurry. waiting for the wind to build back as forecast.

Finally went and started rigging at about 10 'ish. Hard to know what to rig. Decided on 5.7m in the end and IS87. This turned out to be mostly pretty good and had a few runs before swapping to the JPSlalom54 (70L) as it had a shorter 21cm weedspeed fin in it and I was touching the shallows in a few places with the 30cm pointer. Great fun untill the tide turned. Then the speed bank got standing waves and I crashed heavily trying to stop at the end. No more speed runs! Stopped for luch and saw the wind fill in a bit.

Somewhere in there we wend for a wander to see if there were any other good spots, but it was all too shallow.

Back for another blast back and forth with a ittle more wind but no flat water, and that was enough chop hopping.

I think the fastest run was one of the first on the IS85 with the Atomic 30cm SL. That fin feels great. Lots of speed, lift and easy control. Cool

IS87, Atomic pointer slalom 30cm, then JP SL54, 21cm Tribal WeedSpeed. 2019 5.7m KA Koncept  Speed.

I think this sat photo would have been taken just before the entrance was opened a couple of weeks ago. Entrance is now just past where the speed runs stopped.
