SRS73 (15851km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Swan River blast ... waiting for the front to arrive so thought I'd try out the new 38cm pointer... that was fine until the front did arrive and then it was safety gybing all the way home. RRD X-Fire 108, S2 Venom 7.0, 38 & 36 fin
Pos (11755km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Liptons (Wannanup) near Mandurah. Nice session and worth taking the day off work! Was initially on 137L Mistral slalom with 7.0 Loft Racing Blade then switched to Windtech 57 SB, same sail and 29cm Tribal Speed Weed fin. First time at Liptons and really enjoyed it so definitely going back again. Tide was pretty high so not much flat water around but managed some half decent speeds all the same, thanks to the awesome Windtech board. Another great design by Neil Scheltema!

Lunny (42007km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU A chilly Liptons outing with some other crazies. Wasnt as flat as usual with the surge. Glad i stopped to check why my boom felt a little sloppy. Being quite new i though the head was loose but turns out it was cracked carbon. Would have been unpleasant floating out deep for sure so a reminder to check your gear. Windxtasy (13853km): Coodanup, WA, AU M91, 26 Choco weedy 6.2 K, then iS111 with 33 Tribal WS That was better than expected! I packed the car when there was no wind and no rain. Rain started as I headed off, and continued all the way to Mandurah. There was zero wind along the freeway and very little even at the Pinjarra Rd/ Lake Rd intersection. I thought I would have a look at Coodanup to see if Boz was still there and to see if there was any wind (expecting not to find anything much). No Boz, but the wind was 15 - 22 kn and the water was relatively flat. I was about to head off to Liptons to catch up with the crew but a lone Decrepit was about to head off into the gloom by himself so I decided to stay and keep him company. He said he wanted an easy sail for his first session back, and I decided that didn't sound like a bad idea since it was my first sail in exactly a month (last session Apr 16). The rain stopped as I went to rig. Decrepit wasn't out long - forced to return after a catapult punched out a section of sail. We discussed rigging 5.4 or 6.2 and we both went with the 6.2. Just after rigging the wind picked up to 18 - 24 and we were wondering whether to change to the 5.4 but decided the wind would settle down again, which it did. A cruisy sail on the 6.2. Never felt overpowered, but that could have been the 3 kg of lead I added to the flotation vest after the wind picked up. After a half an hour the wind switched SSE and dropped off a bit. The water went flat and there were nice long runs to Boundary Island for the taking, and just to top off an already top 10 Fangy day, the sun came out, and stayed out. Along with the sun came a few extra Mandurah Mobbers. The wind threatened to drop but after we all changed to bigger boards it picked back up again. After my muscles had told me I should call it a day, Boz arrived and gave me an update on the scores from Liptons. I talked him into going out again because it was so pleasant (he didn't take much convincing because he wanted to beat Woody's speed) and when I last saw him he was heading off toward Boundary Island in the hope of scoring a 36kn run. less rain and chop than expected, and not as cold feeling although the thermometer in my car said 13 degrees. more sun and wind and energy and fun than expected. I even completed all my gybes and did a planing one, but that one was too wide to count. definitely a top 10 Fangy day!
Boz (39142km): Coodanup, WA, AU Bit of fun with a large Pinna crew between Coods and Liptons, started in the morning at Coods rigged too small 5.5KAR but managed to get the 2 sec there, left Coods just as Mike rocked up to seek greener pastures at Liptons, NM done here. Was going home but decided to pop into Coods and Anita convinced me to go for anoher run, this time rigged the 6.3KAR even though it was fun just not enough pressure in the wind. Thanks to Hardie sweet little board the Manta 54 eats chop for dinner just need a couple more sessions to dial her in. Great catching up with the Pinnas, the MOB and late arrival Strop. Woody-Mark (14748km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU An enjoyable wintery blast with some keen Pinnas and a solo mobster Hardy. Cheers for the loan GPS Tim. Boz would be appreciative too |
