After having missed a few good foiling sessions this week, I am at the moment trying to sell my 2018 Neil Pryde RS Flight Aluminium foil for £400 if anyone is interested so I didn’t want to risk damaging it so decided to give them a miss. So, I was keen to get out today even if the forecast was all over the place, NW to start then turning E in the afternoon. If the truth be known I have wasted another day in search of a windsurfing session, it is not my first and most certainly won’t be my last chasing the breeze! At least it was a lovely sunny warm day as I spent a lot of the morning checking Landguard weather station. With the wind offshore and pretty light at Felixstowe a river venue looked the best bet as it can funnel up the estuaries and Shotley and Harwich were showing some good gusts so in the end I decided to drive over to Levington Marina to check it out? There was loads of water with the wind from the right with some tempting gusts but never quite enough to tempt me to rig. I had a nice chat with James who works at the marina and spent an hour or two having my salad and watching the boats and birds. The wind then switched 180 degrees to the east so I decided to head back to Felixstowe and see what was happening at The Dip? It did look promising with wind gusting to 18 mph, enough to rig 7.8 for the 133 lt. but as usual by the time I had my wetsuit on it had dropped. I went out none the less as it was wind against tide so I thought that might help. I suppose it did a little as I had three runs up to a mile and a half out, planning slowly a little further out but the sea was messy. So, an hour on the beach and at least I got wet so not a complete waste of a day. Sunday is worth keeping an eye on so fingers crossed!
