Majestic Point, WA, AU

The wind had faded to a solid 15-18 knots by the time I got on the water but things started off well. I didn't get any runs in as I aimed to head up wind to do a few speed runs at peli point but after about 30 mins I was struggling to get much higher after loosing ground in the lulls. After about 45 mins I thought I would switch to the larger board so I reluctantly headed downwind thinking the speed for the hour would still be better allowing time to switch boards. Just needed one more run to get down wind to where the board was waiting on the beach. Set off on a lucky gust but as I got further out the wind got worse and worse. The darky I could see ahead where I planned to turn around had become a lull. Without enough wind anywhere to water start I decided my best bet was to grovel to the otherside of the river then grovel back. I had chosen poorly....  Just over half way accross I fell in the drink which felt like it had been kept on ice. Tried to paddle with the boom resting on the back of the board but to do that I had to drop the boom height and move the mast base all the way forward. Then I used the velcro on the foot straps to anchor the harness lines to the foot straps to try to stop the boom constantly falling off. That was just before a half decent gust came through but by the time I released the velcroe the gust was gone and I was back to swimming. Thanks Ken for offering the tow but by then I could just touch the bottom.

Swim of shame wasn't the plan.

Got down around 9am and the wind looked decent albeit a bit up and down. Was powered up in some of the gusts but grovelling in the lulls. Headed back in to change to a pointer fin when the wind gradually dropped to nothing.

Changed to the foil but alas it wasnt enough to get going. Spotted cannonball in the water so headed down wind near majestic to offer a tow in but by that time he had already reached the sand bank.

Need to get up early these days.

Skunked, was looking okay at 8:30 but by 9 wind backed off, Woody rocked up didn't bother rigging decided to go so sailed for a while by myself and then decided to pack up, surprising Woody rocked up again due to seeing a heap of wind on the highway but alas was not at Boombas. Lucky Mark rocked up as when we decided to leave went to start the car Flat Battery. I did notice my lights on but just forgot to turn them off. After some discussion we though ah we'll just bump start it, bit of a laugh trying to push a 2 tonne troopy through the sand suffice to say that didn't work so next best thing tow it to the little hill on the other side but with what? First a harness line looped around each tow ball surprising to say the velcro held up well until a ditch and just not strong enough, well next best thing uphaul rope must be strong you's think, nope broke after a bit of a tug. 4mm downhaul rope around the tow balls worked like a charm. Got it to the small hill on the other side but just not enough slope to bump the motor. Quich dash to the servo and back bobs your uncle jump leads work like a treat, not to tow but to charge the battery. All in a fun day goes to show why we don't sail boombas on our lonesome not only issues on the water but also land based. Oh and a Pelican took off with Tims 4wd recovery kitLaughing

Boz I saw a big plume of dark smoke come up from Boombas first thing this morning and I thought someone might have stacked it on the gravel. Remery let me know it was probably just your Troopy. Looks like he got that wrong... Next time just use Tim's handcuffs he keeps in the back. Laughing
