Green Island, QLD, AU

Sensational Day for an outing on the Green.  Heaps of early birds turned up at the tinnie this morning, champing at the bit to get over. Some of us may or may not have read the joining instruction prior to depature Undecided and left it to the very last minute to get a ticket aboard the afore mentioned tinnie...OOps. B2 was fashionably late anyways after spending a considerable amount of time on the way in looking for waxing strips thinking he was rocking up to one of Freddy's dance classes.

If you are wondering where this is all heading, B2 wanted me to pen a humerous write up. "Make if Funny" he chirps as I drove away.

Any way, the breeze out wide was there, although off and on. Rigged the old Loft RB 8.6 and managed to get through the session, but it is a very difficult sail to use. heavy, and busted. Had to make running repairs before hitting the water so the poor old luff pocket didnt explode on me. The bright light came in the form of a small, eagerly transformed piece of aluminium, codenamed the "FF24". Out across the flats it was a truck. Im still working on tunning the WT72, but the FF24 just stuck and it trucked up wind when needed. Didnt let go once in the flats area but did cause an issue once of the flats and didnt appreciate being bounced around in the rougher edges of the reef and tended to want to give it all away. I seriously put that much back foot pressure on it that my legs cramped up.

The guns fired all day, Kaleb, Kel, Doc - it was a real joy to watch. Heaps of sailers cracked on at the Northern Speed run, with a group pushing north to Arlington.

Cant wait to have a crack at the racing on Sunday. Used: 8.6 Loft RB, WT72, FF24

Green Island, QLD, AU

Fun day out sailing with local lads B1, Dr Cam, Kel, Peter & some of the visiting early bird sailors sneaking in a bit of time out on the water in readiness for the Nationals! Smile

Plugged the Kestral 24 into "Big Woody" Futura 124 with 8.6 Severne OD R4 planning to go straight to the smooth far patch of the island for some laps...  Somehow managed to pop a batten on the sail early on in the sesh... Yell  Found it quite challenging to keep upwind enough to really do anything except slip & slide with the Kestral- Poor fin choice perhaps is the verdict for today.  Well, that's my excuse anyways...

On one of the rare occurences where I was trailing B1 Wink, I noticed a considerable difference in upwind ability with B1's new FF24 fin compared to the Kestral.

Think us local spoilt lads would have liked a few more knots...  Perhaps Kaleb gets the "man of the match" today!

Best of luck to all the competitors this year in what is such a great sport!!! Cool

Billy. it's christened! And you are not broken to boot! Good job - glad it hung on to such a big sail on a big board on a big ocean ( even if it was only the flatter bits :-). Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the weekend except for Benny's back sack crack wax job Tongue out

Fangy, from what I saw, the FF24 looked like a real smooth performer even in a little bit of chop...  & even with B1 as the pilot! Laughing

Thanks, Benny. It's part of testing to make sure they are safe for users of all levels of ability, including those who don't really qualify as actually having reached any level whatsoever ... such as B1 Bargearse.Laughing Laughing

B1's bargearse has reached it peak Ross......as long as the ability gets it out on the water, it will be happy to reach the dreary ability levels it aspire too Wink
