10 DegC, Rain, wind 10knots to 30knots from the NNE as the squalls came and went. Great way to wake my self up after weeks of no wind.  Hands were so numb at the end I had trouble derigging!

Location: Nelson Estuary, outgoing tide (3.8m).

You must have some fast tides there Stephen. Would get interesting with wind against the tide

Its my goto comfy combo in lumpy estuary conditions...it just works Cool

In the main estuary, the wind against tide is noticable in stong winds 25kts + with short steep chop, and also wind with the tide in lighter winds (barely planing) when you feel like you are always trying to look for gusts to keep up wind. In the harbour it is even more dramatic as current is faster and water is deeper!  I would say the main Nelson estuary is similar the CHCH estuary, but the harbor is no way like Lyttelton as it does not have the same rolling swell.
