I was the first windsurfer at Melville today, hoping to get a sail in before the rain came. Alas, that was not to be, and a rain band came through before I was fully rigged, causing me to retreat to the car for a time. I hate rigging in the rain. After the rain passed I finished rigging up and headed out. By that time two others had turned up, and I was happy not to be sailing alone. The wind was mostly 16 - 18 knots with some 20 knot gusts, but in the chop that was testing enough for my low level of fitness. I had just decided to call it a day and was on the run home when a squall hit. I was having fun speeding down the swell lines in 25 knots but I could see even stronger wind ahead. As I was already on the edge of control, and heading upwind would see me getting airtime over the waves (which were like breakers on the ocean at that stage), I decided to play safe and bail out. I was in standing depth water by that stage, but it was still a battle to keep the board and rig under control in the wind and waves as I walked back to the carpark.
All good training, and back in one piece, that is the most important thing.
Good to catch up with Ricey and Ken and Slowie.

1701 days ago Melville,
Rigged up the 5m and the wind came in howling so I was overpowered even on that. However after the squall passed i was grovelling around half submerged on the 54 board.
Thanks Ricey for lending the harness. Ill send your gps file to you by email. You and Anita did well in the strong wind.

Fun day with Lunny at Herron Point, Mark came down as well didn't like what he saw decided the pond was for him. Rigged the 6.3 first but after a couple runs it just didn't feel right, back to rig the 5.5 sweet. Pity some big holes in the hour rekon lunny did better by miles for the hour, lost time re rigging and by that time the holes started to appear for the 5.5 KAR. Was a bit choppy but a bad day at Heron is like a good day at Melville baby chop in comparison

Really enjoyed it at Herron Pt with Boz. Not flat but miles of water to sail in with reasonably consistant chop and very few small weedbergs.
Probably could have used the 57 but decided to stick with the 64.
Great Day

Spectated briefly at Heron Pt and decided to take the easy option today and did a few alphas' or attempted to at least in the patchy conditions with Flatchat and later Jonski. Good to get out. Manta 61 Vapor 6.4 delta 18.

A short session in the pond with Woody and later joined by Jonski. The numbers say it all, poor fitness and a lucky gust. Curiously, the tide was very low and required a delta fin or a floaty board to access, even though the Peel inlet tide was indicating +80cm, which normally means a weedy would suffice. Water state was very flat but unfortunately Huey didn't come to play. Gusty but fun as usual.
