Billy (10637km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Top 10 Day at the Mud Hole with B2 and Gaz who dropped by for an end of session gazbag !!! A Thermal ESE today with lots of holes which accentuated as the clouds built up. Everything was close in shore today so we buzzed around the vacinity of Dereck "The Dredge". Id say it was a 13-15 kt arvo and when I first got out on the water it was a royal blue as you could get. Just magical. Couldnt land a gybe to save myself today and spent a considerable amount of time in the water, which is a bit frustrating. Happy with that NM and 2 sec in those conditions though. B2 was darting with danger attempting the odd sit down trick as we were pretty close at times and no amount of encouragement could persuade him to finish it off. Happy with the outcome of the cut outs and I carried a few litres of water today to try and add a bit of extra weight in an attempt to get a decent 2 Sec. It may have worked. Its certainly a PB for me on that board so far. Im thinking that 30 plus is pretty attainable. Thanks to Fred for the loan of his GPS whilst he's traveling the world, im confident that the Motion wont be to far around the corner. Used: WT72, BPR 47.5, 7.8 OD M2 - Great arvo in FNQ.
Benny McCarthy (14442km): Well the Kingdom is currently in Anarchy at Holloways Beach, QLD, AU! All hail the new King!!! Top 10 day for sure spent out on the water with the now new Queen Bill! Reckon it was the most fun I've had for the month out on the water! B1 (now Queen) was already out on the water warming up with his new go fast Severne sail & modified Windtech board when I arrived just after 1pm. Wind looked to be a steady ESE predominately onshore so rigged up the ol' Severne 8.6 R4 with "Big Woody" Futura 124 & Venom 48. Sailed in close quarters with the Queen for the most part of the sesh. Lots of fun! Nearly sat on the front of his board when both blatting along at one stage... Happy to snag an unexpected hour PB at the mudpit, especially considering the Queen & I both dropped off the plane for about 5 minutes or so out wide- wind was actually stronger onshore! Beautiful sunny skies, fantastic water colours for the mudpit & the company wasn't that bad either! Special mention goes out to Queen Bill for the 28+ 2sec- big Kudo's! Ripper effort in the conditions!!! Gaz dropped by on his bicycle when we were derigging for a nice gas bag! Planning to do it all again tomoz- maybe we can hold some beans for the first day of the month! "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"
GatorPete (123058km): Burrum Heads, QLD, AU. Felt like a drive and a change from the lakes, 0.05 low tide at 3.43pm. Wind was 12-18 SSE when we got there at 12pm but swung to ESE and eased to 5-15 by the time we got out there after 1pm when tide exposed bank. Was'nt strong enough wind and so many sandbanks out to walk over to get to Northern Run not worth the effort. Nice to catch up with Geoff and Steve. JAG108/35WS/7.8 Reflex R7 |
