Clifton Beach, QLD, AU

Great little fun arvo warm down session in Dr Cam's backyard!!  Got out on the water around 1330- must have just missed the Caminator, whilst he was having some lunch, as his gear was laid underneath the shade of a light Easterly swaying Palm Tree.

Rigged the new Severne M2 7.8 sail for the first time today!- to go along with "Big Woody" Futura 124 & Tribal MK1 36.  New sail rigged a treat as per specs and noticeably lighter than the older OD versions.

Wind was a bit light on for the first 45mins or so- did a few laps to DI and back, then it started to fill in a bit...  Chugged some water & some more magnesium, then msg'd Cam the update...  Straight back over to DI I went and in a flash, I spotted a sparkling North Sail blasting it's way over from the beach! Cool

Fully enjoyed the yahoo's in the few passing runs with Dr Cam- bloody legend!!! Smile

The ocean was super rough today, so that made it quite interesting...  was also interesting dodging the jumping fish & numerous turtles off the Island- thought I was playing some sort of roulette game there for a bit...

Bit knackered towards the end of the sesh, so thought I'd point upwind and set up for a nice naughty back to the beach- all was going to plan, then bugger me!!!, cruising along getting set to let in rip downwind I heard a loud bang and ended up in the drink!  First thoughts were dire!!!- is it a snapped mast, broken boom... aargh Yell But no, it ended up being the outhaul jig on the new M2 sail- completely snapped straight out of the sail's eyelet on it's first venture out...  Not great news, but better than the forementioned...  Was stuck in the rolling seas for about 10 minutes or so trying to sort out the outhaul rope to retrofit and get back to base!

With all being said, I still had a ripper time out on the water today in great company!- Windsurfer for Life!!! Laughing

A nice bit of East in the wind made it relatively easy to get back to base.

Back Up Benny. Another solid session Nice one gents.

B2, those outhauls on the new OD's, you have to snap the rope all the way home, other wise it sits just on the outer lip.

Easy fix Dr Cam- thankfully the new sails have eyelets rather than riveted jigs for the outhaul...  New sail battens look to be improved also.  Will touch base with the supplier to let them know...

Yer nice one guys good to see some action on the water wind look good today 👍. Shame about the the broken gear Benny. I know the feeling well. Usually happens to me just on sundown when the sharks come out for dinner. That’s the reason I have gone to free ride gear and RDM masts just want shit that doesn’t break. Now your starting to clock up some serious Kms you might want to think about up dating some of those old hand me down masts you have as They will snap in half. 😩

Thanks B1, Fred & Ed! Cool The legs definately felt a little weary at touch footy tonight!!

Hey Ed, you're right on the money there- I've been using my relatively new Severne composite mast for a bit now when sailing in the ocean even though it is heavier (but stronger).  Will only use the 100% carbon hand me downs like at the dam as I've had that eerie feeling...
