Yep, have to admit top ten fangy day! Mainly becuse everything happened right for a very nice change.

Had lunch at Sbend in very light wind, Fangy arrived and started rigging anyway, so I went with the big gear, 65cm board, 6.6 koncept and 20cm@55d deltoid. Fangy hit the water and floated for a bit then started planning, I hit the water at about that point.

Mal Faulkner is dropping in next week, so I thought I'd better sus out the place, headed up wind to Creery. Had just got there when a squall came through, so headed off down wind for the NM, very pleased with that, 29.65 2s and 27.128 NM. Had the wind all the way, would have been faster on smaller gear, but then I would have struggled in the lulls.

Pacey came out as I came in, he got the last of the wind before it died, but he wasn't out very long.

It’s not often we get the timing right, but the Cap’n and I nailed it today. The breeze went from zero to low teens just after I started. I had the Barge FF28 KaRace 9.4 combo. This was a bit big for most of the session, but not so much that it was a drama... Until just after 2 o'clock.

We had been watching a rain band coming in from the west. I was trying to time my run onto the flats, the Cap’n had wisely scooted up the top for a nauti.(or was it just good timing again)

I got my timing perfecto, but had completely misjudged how strong the squall was going to be. Even for me, 20 knots and the 9.4 is well overcooked. I got my max just before the Barge got all excited and decided to fly like Dumbo.

 Serious sphincter time.

Just as I was getting things back on the water, I noticed the Cap’n on the opposite tack bursting through the rain going hammer and tongs downhill. He just kept the pedal to the metal all the way down and almost disappeared back into the rain.

Once the wind had eased a bit I set off again, but noticed something wrong with my harness. I adjusted the straps, but it kept getting loose and riding up further on my left side. I eventually stopped to have a good look. Turns out the entire LHS backing fabric was tearing away from the harness back. At that point, I gingerly headed for home and for once made it before it broke entirely.

So Top Ten Fangy day for delivering a fun session and a decent serve of good luck

Dampier, WA, AU Crazy day up in the NW of WA, 42 degrees scorching hot, then a 20 to 25 kt seabreeze blows up, temp drops to 35 degrees. Had a fabulous sail, but no flat water to be found anywhere.  Overpowered on my TR9 7.0m, had to sheet out a few times, really exciting sailing.  RRD Firestorm 65/105, Pepeweed 28/48.  Most of my fast runs felt like I was doing 35kts on the very edge of control, only to be shattered seeing 28's at the end of each runEmbarassed. I was desperately trying to crack 30kts, but not even close, thought I would risk crashing in Tiger Shark infested waters, so didnt push any harder than I was,

Fangy the locals used to have a massive fenced off swimming caged area to protect their children from the massive predatory Tiger Sharks up here, and I asked a local last night why they removed it and he said the kids used to love climbing the edge of the caged fence and jump off it into the unprotected waters, and it became more cool to swim away from the caged area so they removed it.  And when I asked a wise local about a month ago whether I was mad for risking sailing in a Tiger Shark Nursery, he said "Nah, the Tiger Sharks up here are only dangerous if they bite youSurprised"
