Lake George - 18 to 25 knots - s /se

Great fun day with Sam and awesome start to the season.  1st time on new KA 2020 6.3 race - another great sail Cool.  Main focus was 1 hour and thought i had done better but still happy with numbers.  Late in the session had a 38.6 on the screen but doesn't seem to be anywhere maybe a spike.  Turned gps on drive home so had to clean up on realspeed.

Went down to look at big lake side of spit and hit a weed clump at slow speed - whoa luckily didn't land on sail Smile.

Had a couple of runs where KJ and Jimbob were sailing but couldn't work it out lol.

Back up to 5 mile and the wind filled in nice and allowed us to do a 1 hour.  By the end of the hour was pretty knackered so called it with a 5 hour drive home and work the next day.

Great start and nice to stretch the 6.3.  Sam was smoking - well done mate - on half a meter sail smaller and alot bigger - that's my excuse buddy Laughing.

Nice to catch up with Jimbob and welcome to the team KJ - 1st of many sessions...

Patrik 87 / 6.3 KA race 2020 / Vector weed speed 25.

LG from the spit, SE 18 to 25.

JP54 slalom, 5.7 KAS, 25 vector weedy then decrepit 21 weedy, 20 minute gybe session on F2stoke.

first time on 70 litre board this last season and first time with a bigeer sail than my 4.9 I always use on it.

was way sweet once I changed to the 21 decrpit weedy could sail straight through the weed on top easliy.

never super lit just 25 but still fun day.

was great to have fellow Bogans carl and sam and new member my mate John , also Max from adelaide on wave gear who really stuggled with no weed fin.

really need more time on my JP to dial in the gybes.

been sailing every day in the bay on 6.5 freeride and a few foil sessions, only wearing gps on lake.

Gunna be hitting behind the spit while there is still enough water as full weed there.

Had an amazing time with Carl today. Went for a road trip.

 NOTE TO SELF

DO NOT Pack windsurfing gear while hungover from Christmas on boxing day morning and leave for windsurfing.

Got to lake George and the wind was building. Went to rig my 6.3 and guess what no 6.3. Ok 5.4 yep no 5.4.

MMM SERIOUSLY WTF. ok what do I have. 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Ok so all the way to lake George 800km round trip 😲 and I only packed the  1 sail. 7m Neil pride 😂😂😂😂.

Lucky jimbo took pity on me and lent me an old 2013 Ka sail. Cheers mate. Had a ball and sailed all around the lake. To the spit and back to 5 mile. Was great fun and was fun to hold the hammer down for a solid day.

Cheers Carl for the company and laughs 😁😁

Carl was cranking and his new sail looked sweet.

So off to bed to sleep off the last 2 days 😁😁

Hey Pete KJ is about the same weight as you and me . he was doing fine on the 5.5 sure he had a 5.0 mach3 in the car too, know he dosen't liketo sail overpowered all day. yeh his fin was 14 deep.

there is a few off us that sail smaller gear for more efficency and less drag. daffy and me always a size or 2 smaller.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to the team. I must remind myself to bring my black ACDC T shirt and a few cans of bundy.  I'm sure I'll fit in well with the rest of the bogans.

Daishy - the wind didn't really kick that hard in the afternoon that day like it usually does, so I was a little underpowered for top speed runs. There was a really smooth run amongst the weed clumps at the top of the spit. However the clumps were quite tricky to navigate (as Carl can testify) so I used the tribal 14cm which worked really well punching through the weed banks. Nice fin, not sure how fast it is though, compared to the vector speed weeds. I'm 89kg, I use a 5.5-5.7 the most at LG. I also use the 5.0/5.2 as much as the 6.2. First day on the severne M3, really love the sail, so light to flick around.
