Sandy Point, Vic.

I hope that my great sailing friends at Mallacoota came away from todays fire without injury and with their homes.

A very marginal wind day here, around 12-14 knots but got to 15-16 for a while mid session.

Stared on the SB GO 170 with 560cm fin and 8.4m old Koyote. Nice cruising but not very fast. A few laps and down the entrance and back.

Came in for a rest and noticed that my GW60 said I had done 30NM.(about 50Km) That got me thinking. If I get over 100km I could possibly jump to the top of the over 60's this year. I hadn't had much interest until then, but thought I would keep cruising and see how far I got.

Back out and I was a bit overdone as the wind had picked up a couple of knots.

Came in and rigged brand new 2020 KA 7m Race to try on the old 110 Isonic.

Very nice and much faster. Laughing

A few more laps and then I realised the tide was so far in I could just run right up the inlet over the sandbars. That is quite nice sailing as the water is quite flat and the small waves are even. Did a few laps of that and then I noticed the wind had eased a bit. Made it back and grabbed the big stuff again. Did a run to the entrance but 3/4 of the way back I was struggling to plane and the wind continued to drop. Just made it back with a bit of slogging and found I was 10km's short of the goal and no more wind. Undecided

Oh well, it was fun anyhow! Smile

Go 170, Drake 560 fin, Koyote 8.4. IS 110, Tribal weedspeed 34cm, 2020 KA Race 7.0m. GW-52 gps
