I got back from a jaunt up to the Big Smoke to find a decent breeze on offer. I decided that the vintage Missy Flow should get a splash today. I whacked on a SimmerSCR7.8 and FF24 and hit the flats. Perhaps a little too literally.

I clobbered something hard with the fin trying to sneak up the inside. There did not appear to be any damage, but over the next couple of runs the fin appeared to loosen.

I unscrewed it with my fingers and noticed some damage to the threads. Not a problem I thought I will just swap it over with a spare from my back pack. Job done in no time and I am patting myself on the back.At least until I tried to tighten the bolt. For some reason I had carefully wrapped up and coated in lanolin grease, a #8 Allen key whereas the size required is #6. So now I had lanolin coated fingers and no way of tightening the bolt...

Not long later Iain rolled over to see why I was tormenting the crabs with my torso and he quickly struck upon a solution that got things tight enough to get back to base. Thanks Iain!

Not wanting to risk losing the fin entirely I did a board swap while I was there. Out on the the very big board, and this time determined to beat it into submission. Which I did. And had a fab sail in the process.

On top of that, the session ended with the twice as many ladies than lads on the water. A Top Ten Fangy Start to the year or what! :-)

Well that was a fun day, Hardie lent me his mistral 95, and the muppet lent me his JP 54. I just loved the mistral, but the JP did my back in, not sure why, possibly had to muscle everything too much, as it has no volume.

I rigged the 6.6 and used the 20cm @ 55 in the mistral as it worked well with my 53 yesterday. Again spent all the time at Pt Grey, it was a bit shallow to go deep, and mainly I kept the fin above the bottom, but I did have one off going into a gybe.

Came in for lunch and gave Hardie his board back, whereon Elmo said I should try his JP 54, I was a bit sceptical it has very low volume and seemed too small for the 6.6, but Elmo assure me he uses a 7.0 with it, so gave it a go. It already had his Pepe weed in it, so I didn't bother changing it. Had a great run when I took off, so kept going across the channel and had a few runs, but then my Back really started playing up, so went in and did some stretches.

After recovery, I plugged the 20cm fin in my new 48 and had another session, this was my fastest, but back was still feeling a bit fragile, so that didn't llast all that long either.

As usual I posted from DIY2a because it had the best accuracy, but this time the motion had the best 2s result.
