Turtle Island Slicks, Corpus Christi. Fooled by the wind meters - 8 out of 10 wind meters showed little wind early, which included the 3 meters we usually use. Only two meters with showed 20 early, but they (probably) showed the correct wind. We did not start until the other meters also started to go up. After 15 minutes on the water, the wind started to drop to 16 knot averages; after 45 minutes, it dropped further and ended the session. If was cold for Corpus standards (low to mid 50s F), and the wind direction was a bit off - speed runs along Turtle Island would would have been at a 150 degree angle. On the bright side, it was sunny and did not feel cold in our 4 mm suits, and my "fangy-ized" MUF Delta 21 worked well for Nina, even though the fillet is far from perfect. The spot definitely can be fun even in NW wind like today, but it will be really interesting with a bit more wind from the SE or W-WNW. Unfortunately, the forecast still does not look promising, except for a bit of foiling.
