Felt like the kit selection was spot on today. Still plenty of holes and some big gust to play in. I'm still working on getting this big girl flying and it felt like a much better setup today. Very busy in the lanes and way too much obstacles to avoid. Best runs were late when most had retired for a coldie.

Crazy sesh at Dutchies today.

Got down there around 3:30 and it looked pretty windy, so I went with the WT64 + 6.5 Turbo + 33 Tribal WS.

I had it in my head that I wanted to try for a good ocean hour today, and when I left home and it was 18-22K and that seemed a reasonable idea.  However, by the time I got on the water around 4 it was more like 23-28K, and any ideas of doing an hour disappeared.

Nevertheless I trucked upwind to Port Beach, figuring the water state up there might be more manageable than the Dutchies maelstrom, which it was. I was well powered on the 6.5, so yeh, it was windy!

Coming back downwind was hairy as fxck.

A few times I worked up the cohones to fully send it heading out to sea, and the thing was if you went deep enough it was actually OK cos you were running down the swell lines, rather than heading into them and getting launched at speed.  I got my peak speed on one of these port tack runs.  Overall though it was slightly less terrifying going deep on starboard, and launching off the back of the swells rather than approaching them head-on, so I generally waited for my runs into shore to make my way downwind.

Unfortunately none of my runs were long enough to register a good mile (a mile is a long time to keep the power down in those conditions), but I did manage a 29K 500m and a 28K 1,000m.

Pretty happy to arrive back at Dutchies without any damage to my kit or body Cool

So in summary a great sesh, albeit a curious mix of fun and sheer terror!!

Good fun across the sandbank with the delta fin. Hoped I could crack 30 knts but did not time the right gusts.

Point Walter, WA

Very gusty session on the WindTech 64 with 7.0 Loft racing blade. Remind me to never launch from Mosman Park again - was a nightmare trying to get out past all the moored boats into the clean wind off Point Walter.

Greg you did well in those conditions. Good Screamin Leeman training by the sound of it.

Pointy I know what you mean about being more managable going off the wind and running with the swell. Launching from Leighton was just perfect because the outward run going down wind was just perfect and then I found getting back upwind was easy as you could just run with the swell lines again.

Well done Greg. That was the roughest conditions I've seen at dutchies for  a while.

Dutchies 25 knots - super-fun downwind runs with Jesper Smile

Interesting to compare with Greg's tracks. (Cool write-up Greg).
