James Farley (12642km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet RF91, TRX 7.0, Naish Foil - Wind ENE 8-15 kts NSW Foil/Formula Series Heat 3 Forecast was wild, but ended up being a pretty good foiling day. Some big lulls but great in the gusts. Fun to catch up with a bunch of other foilers and formula crew. Was going to try out my new starboard race but needs a bit of sanding to fit in the fin box. Next time. Thanks to Jeff and Muz for running the boat and to Bushfire for organising the whole series.
sboardcrazy (24291km): 15-22kts SE 3mile Lake George, SA, AU 6.2m M2 OD - 87ltre iso - 21.5cm FF ( cutdown 24) for hr attempt 6.2m - 80iso-18cm tribal delta for the rest Well I suppose it's not bad for a first day but I'm disapointed in the alpha. I suppose I knew the better gybes were too wide. Hoped for a better hr but I was underpowered and having trouble staying in place . Considering I was mostly sitting on 20kts it's ok.. A nice gentle inttro to the lake. I was pretty nervous so went out really early . Not enough and slogged around for the first 3/4hrs..Started to get a few gusts and get going but came in for something to eat and a drink. Pretty buggered from the trip down and my eyeballs were hagning out of my head after the first 15mins..I've lost the knack of getting upwind with little fins but I think there just wasn't enough wind. There was bettr wind higher up but I couldn't get there. I'd done 50kms by the time I finished the hr attempt. By the end I was absolutely buggered and getting overpowered in the gusts but I was determined to attempt the gybes so I had some interesting stacks. I just didn't have the energy! Nice to enjoy planing gybes again . They need some refining but they were fun! Tried to get up higher later and tried a few bearaways but just not enough wind. Did on at 3 mile on the way back and got 24kts .. wow.. Obviously got to learn where the best spots are. I would have liked to get a few more kms but I was pretty buggered and wanted to leave a bit in the tank for later. Heaps out but plenty of room. Ugh I hate laptops!!!
