sboardcrazy (24363km): 10-15kts SSE Lake George, SA, AU Didn't get out to the lake until 4ish. Watched a few guinea pigs floating around and getting planing well in the gusts. I thought they were heavier than me so rigged the 7m but it wasn't enough. Took a while to get bck in as I was underpowered and the wind seemed to turn more offshore. Rerigged the 7.5m and the fun began! Acres of glass over the other side and enough wind for me to be getting along well if I put some effort in. Not ideal as it seemed to hard to keep upwind and headed me more over at 3 mile side so I spent all the time going upwind. Not enough for much off the wind anyway but a total buzz shooting along in the glass.. Played around for half an hr over the other side where the wind was consistent and a better angle. Got my act together a few times and went upwind well plus the gybes are improving. Hopefully it will all start to come together over the next week. It was great looking back at the rooster tail in the glass with the sun behind me. I had the go pro on the mast but I'm not sure if ihad the angle right. I'll have to try a view looking behind me next time as it looks great.. See video below. Getting pretty late and I was the only one left out so I headed back in. It was a pain trying to slog back to the launch so I went to 5 mile and walked back to the car from there. I think sailing in a glass off is my favourite sailing down here.. Only me and about a 100 march flies for company in my car.. |
