Bit of a mission to find Morts, crash cause, very light wind, used the 65cm board, 6.6 koncept and 21cm@55deg weedy.

Slogged upwind too well, well and truly overshot the co-ordinates, went round in circles, trying to sail to the spot, gave up and walked through the waist deep weed and mud. No sign of anything except lots of weed.

Had a few planning runs, but 90% of the time was slogging.

Here's Jeremy's crash overlay with my meanderings

First time sailing at Leschenault Inlet, Bunbury. Blue sky, friendly dolphins and a little bit of wind. Nice spoCool

Good effort Cap’n, but I am pretty sure the Loch Lilacs monster would have swum away be now... Lombok, that’s a dedicated effort to do Bunno on an easterly!

I know what you mean Mike. I spent an hour Sunday afternoon wading in the mud and weed looking for my FF18. Needle in a haystack thing but I had to give it a go. Happy I didn't step on a cobbler while in pursuit of my finSmilePerhaps the crash cause is not a fixed object i.e. waterlogged timber rolling around?

Believe me Vic, nothing is going to roll around in that weed.

I've got to say Mike, I'm super impressed with your dedication. Hows the calves and quads after that walkabout?? Thanks for looking, cause Im definitely going to try that NM PB again.

By the way, any updates on Morts? you ok mate? not much info other than Slugger gave you CPR and mouth to mouth Cry? Chinese whispers can be evil

I believe I hit a ray in a simalar spot when I sailed there in Jan, I came to a halt about 15m away and could see a hump above the water.

This was the part of the track it was around the "X".

Hey Elmo wasn’t that the time when the hump above the water just Firie bobbing along quietly after you had cleaned him up on a Nautical run?

Morts came round when I came in, It was great to see him mobile! He's walking and driving OK, but has to be careful not to sneeze, cough or laugh.

I've had a closer look at Morts's tracks, and it does look like I could have missed it. There's a very gradual increase in the SdoP numbers, I was looking at where they rapidly increase, Jeremy says he was wearing the GPS on his head, and the crash was delayed, so the collision could be where the SDoP slowly increases.

After the cross hair, each 3 of those peaks are higher than the last. I was looking at the sart of the 4th big peak. My tracks don't go anywhere near this section of track. To do the job properly we need to follow this track exactly. Not an easy thing to do!

Did Jeremy have any impact marks on his fin?

I've bullseyed a ray right between the eyes and can confirm that you stop in a hurry

He had a FangyFin in the slot, so it will have to have been something quite hard in order to leave a mark. I hit a piece of jarrah jetty debris at the 34knots and the fin was unscathed. Frown
