South Bird Island, Corpus Christi. Finally good NW wind, of course the day before Nina returns. I underestimated the effect of a thick wetsuit + water pack + impact west on the 72 l Isonic 54 - once wet, I probably was 10 kg heavier than the last time on this board. Add to that having to get a mile upwind to the speed strip, and a small fin (Weed Demon 19), and I was tired before the first speed run. Runs along the island were a bit too square, so speed runs were into small chop, which I'll take as an excuse for not hitting 34 or 35 today. Still, the fastest session of this trip, and second-fastest in Corpus, so can't really complain.

My timing for the way back was perfectly bad - I went just as averages dropped below 20. But some patience and lots of butt sailing got me back safely.
