Sailquik (29582km): Sandy Pt, Vic. Worth a punt but didnt deliver. Very gusty wind. Over 30 with the change but then dropped back to 20-25. Gradually picked up again during the session to gusts over 25. Very gusty wind which made it hard to get settled and build speed. Angle was actually very good at the end - WSW. Arrived to see Kato start his first run on speed board with 5.7m. Looked windy! So I rigged 5.2m but Kato came back and said he was rigging his 5m! OK. I better rig the 4.7m. Then we looked around and the wind had dropped. Slalom boards seemed the go. First runs very underpowered and barely getting 35 knots. It gradually got better till I had a 38 peak. I wondered if the relitively large Techtonics fin was holding me back so I came in and changed to the old TM26. Felt good, but no faster. Tide now rushing in so gave it away. 2017 IS80L, 2020 KA Speed 5.2m. Techtonics Speed Demon 21cm and then TM26cm. | ||||||||||||||||||
kato (37520km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU. Tough day at the office Got first tracks when the change hit as Daffy had an extra snooze. It didnt do me any good as the wind dropped out as I came in to rig a smaller sail. The wind slowly returned but it still was a very gusty WSW with some push at the start, then nothing when you turned the corner. I saw lots of 36 kt runs which is why I stayed on the slalom board. It might have been a kt or 2 quicker on speed gear but sailing back into the square chop would have been impossible on the small gear. It was still awfull on the slalom and I had to sail slow back up wind. I hate walking Good to get rid of the Duck Poo smell off the sails and see some sand on the booms instead of Snot weed. SL 52, Tribal Speed weed 25, Ka Speed 5.7 Did one run on the Ca 40 but not quick |
