Late posting.... last round of the foiling state titles at Kanahooka.

5 races in very varied winds! FMX and AFS1000R, 2x Loft SkyBlades.

The forecast was 20kts... but when I arrived it was more like 10-15, so I rigged my 10.0 and 8.0 (for just in case the wind hit).

Race 1, During which the wind did come through and I could only JUST sheet the sail in, but it was a real handful, so I ran off to the beach after crossing the finish line and grabbed the 8 already waiting for me. Some others changed down and missed the start of round 2. I finished 6th.

Race 2, got to the start line at the 2min mark, got into position, and NAILED the start, second over the line, POWERING upwind with the 8.0 feeling good, until my tack, then the wind dropped, and I slowed to the top mark. Eventually I made it downwind to the bottom mark, and after a few minutes faphing about, decided to swap again, so went back around the bottom mark and the line for a 1 lap recording. A 9.0 would have been nice! DNF

Race 3, Having skipped a lap, I was prepared well in advance for race 3. Frustrating watching guys pull away about 10% faster, but still fun. My angles are  good, but I have some drag somewhere. The wind dropped a bit during the race, had a bad tack into nothing but made it back onto the foil. Finished 7th.

Race 4, After lunch the wind was a bit lighter, and having a 10, instead of 9 like most guys helped. Got a 5th.

Race 5, dropping winds, didn't fly for over a minute upwind, while the leading pack of 3-4 was flying downwind on a gust that I had to wait for. ended 8th after driving DEEP downwind, much more (say 30 degrees) deeper than maybe Matt, who was on a broad reach and crossed the line about a metre ahead of me.
