3- 25/30kts WNW Terrible Teralba, NSW, AU cold

4.2m sailworks revo- WT64 ( 112ltres) - 33cm select pointer

Procrastinated too long and wasted the best of it in the morning and it came in more consistently after I took my wettie off . Yell

I drove around to Speers Point and Warners thinking of rigging there so it would be an onshore wind but it wasn't west enough and there were big lulls followed by 30kts odd..back to Teralba.

An interesting experiment. I used the big board ( + 50 ltre over my weight) and a little sail which is probably out of specs for the board..I was worried the 33cm fin would be too big but it was the smallest I have.

I was worried the wind would get under the board in the gusts but it was great. The 4m was miles too small generally and I wobbled around out of the harness in the lighter stuff but it was great in the gusts..Tongue out

Great combo once I worked it out!

Nice to look forward to the gusts rather than dread them.

I soon learned to avoid starting out in the middle. I needed the biggest gusts to waterstart but they didn't last long enough . Generally there was so little wind I had trouble balancing uphauling.

I decided to avoid gybing and just stop at either end.

The board feels fast . Probably similar to the RS4 in speed but a barrel of fun rather than hanging on..

Still tiring but at least I had fun in the puffs. No issues keeping up high.

Came in for something to eat and got cold. I went back out but it had died right off 0-15kt puffs so I started to pack up. Of course it came in pretty  consistently then. Undecided I was too cold to put the wettie back on  so that was it..

Nice to know that if I have to I can sail something that won't try and kill me and  I can have fun on..Laughing

Just me and a windwing well downwind. Russ went out after I'd packed up. Gert & John went around to Warners as they said it was a bit too W for them.

Speed board too small so switched to CASL93 and that was the best speed. Wind a dodgy westerly, flat water but shallowest I can recall. 5.9 sail, 19 fin.
