When I left home it was blowing 35knots with gusts over 40. Game on!!! and the nerves were starting to build. It wasn't to be as the wind died by the time I had rigged and the tide was okCry Oh well, there was still 20 to 25knots Smile so I went out on the KA 5.4m2 + W49 speed board anyway.

Was hard work as I couldn't point upwind and off the wind there was little power in the sail, but surprisingly I got a few runs in.  I managed to get 5 runs over 30knots and since it was just enough to getting planning in the gusts and upto my knees in water in the lulls I went back to shore and got the IS87 (a floater for me). Could not be bothered rigging the 6.6 so stayed with the 5.4.  Got my fastest run on the IS87 and enjoyed cranking the gybes.

I got 2sec runs over 33 on the W49 so good to know the IS87 is as fast as the W49 when its marginal conditions.  5 knots more and W49 would be ahead I should think.

Nelson Haven - low tide.

Wind 20 - 25knots NNE.

Ka Koncept 5.4, W49 + C3 Venom 24, then IS87 + Tribal 27.

So happy to be on the water!
