Cootharabean (16045km): Lake Weyba, QLD, U 114/7.8 Overcast gusty sail with the locals. Had a go with a garmin today. Fun to use. I can see the attraction

Freddy Burke (12114km): Holloways.... Tony the truckie was out when I arrived and Benny arrived as I was going out. RRD X-FIRE 102, kOYOTE 6.6, STING2-40 FIN
Trojan (8083km): Mackay, QLD, AU Morning sail on the first of the wind and last of the tide with 5 on the water. Breeze very south with the wind line way out wide. Only really came in nice at the very end. Good to see Dave S back. A few more an you'll earn a spot on the FNQ mob. CA SL70, Ezzy 7.5
Benny McCarthy (14614km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Had my timing all wrong today... Tony the Truckie was out on the horizon and Freddo was rigged and ready to head out as I arrived. Wind readings looked good earlier on, but by the time I got out on the water, I could only manage a couple of mediocre planing runs with dredging in between... Not much joy today as the rain clouds had moved through the valleys behind Trinity inlet and snuffed out the few flukey wind puffs that were left. Waited around for a bit in hope, had a nice chin wag with Freddo & met another Tony (aka- one of the ol' "speed brothers" from back in the day) who was keen to have a crack on his new foil kit, but unfortunately it just wasn't the afternoon for it. Still nice to get out on the water 3 days in a row! Reckon Freddo gets "man of the match" today with his 6.6! Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne OD 7.8 M2, Venom 48 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"

Andrew (2314km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU A lot happier with this kind of wind. Sailed by myself today - along with about 10 kitsurfers engaged in some kind of contest. Still, plenty of room out there on the water. Ed was busy walking his dog or something. And new chum, Mark, was down at the good Doctor's on some kind of smash and grab operation. I rigged 7.2m V8 and Fox 120, with 40cm fin. I'm slowly falling in love with this thing. Much more composed in the chop that my old Atomiq. The thing is kind of like a big ship - nice and progressive and stable. I think I'm going to have it a long time - hopefully the stress fractures don't get to it. I had the sail hauled down and flat and, once I walked the rig out about 100 metres I made my way through the weed. A couple of runs and I bagged the thing out =- I was getting knocked up the beach again and then the wind kicked in a couple more knots and I really started to have some fun, cruising around, running down the face of waves, etc. My kind of weather you know. One screaming run into shore and I got thrown over the front and took out my third panel across the seam. Bugger. Still, Ed always says these things are here for a good time not a long time - I shall go and beg our local sail repair man, Mal Richards for a repair. I've been pretty lucky the last week and a half - I think I've sailed 6 out of the past 10 days. Fingers crossed.... Ed and I dropped by Mark's house to check out his new gear [thanks Dr Cam] - he couldn't be happier. I think we've got a keeper up here in Latte Land.
Sailpilot (7913km): Mackay, QLD, AU Nice day out, 5 boards on the water is pretty good numbers for Mackay. Simmer XC2 7.8, CA112, Trbal 40 |
