So deserved todays pain. Just couldn't get me act together today. Arrived at the mud pit to a very solid 18kt SE'r. Sensational, lets get amongst it. The white caps were screaming, the tide was out, good times to be had. Rigged and hit the water...........ZZZZzzzzzzz, That's where it all came unstuck. I couldn't believe it. After getting on the blower, summoning the troops, Wind and Sun I said, its on..........ZZZzzzzzzzzz...........ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz. What happened was so far from any imagination I had of the day.
After taking 30 mins to hit a variable wind line, way out wide, I realised that I had max down haul on, low boom height all adding up to absolutely no power. Perseverance was the key. Go wider Bill, there's sure to be a stronger wind line somewhere out near Arlington, surely!!!!!! Nope, there weren't, so we began the dredge back to shore. By then, the wind had headed around to the south, placing me on target to beach at Yorkies. It just got a whole lot harder, indeed. It's been a long time since I've managed to do a Walk of Shame, but today was going to be a reminder that this sport can be tough at times.
Any ways, it was a bloody nice Autums day at the mud hole regardless and got to catch up with B2, Binny and Kel .
Used: Motion, 7.8ODM2, WT72, WT43 - cant complain to much, shite happens, at least I got out with the lads. Cheers lads.

Got a message from Kel - Howling @ Holloways - so I smoothed it over with the wife and joined the crew, I waited till the wind got super sketchy before going out (I was giving the child a bodyboarding lesson)
completed two walks of shame

Expectations were high mid morning as there seemed to be plenty of breeze about. But as we were rigging up just after midday, the wind strangley appeared to be on a downward trajectory...
One long run/dredge out to begin with in search of some sort of wind line before deciding to turn around to head back to base- could barely see B1's sail as he was far far away downwind on the horizon... Anyways, back to the beach I went for some gear tweaking. Noticed then the wind had shifted SSW with those damn rain clouds coming throught the valley at Trinity inlet, so decided to wait for a bit before heading back out on the water. Stayed in close from then on just trying to snag some runs with some gybe practice in the flukey low density breeze.
Meanwhile Kel was blatting around effortlessly staying well upwind somehow.... Binny was having fun in close skipping around in the chop.... And poor ol' B1, who got stuck out wide in the wind change, had to use every ounce of energy I reckon to get back somewhere near base So I felt the very least I could do was trundle down the beach & help, carrying his board back to the rigging area (as he has kindly done for me once or twice in the past).
Still all better than nothing... Was nice to catch up with the crew!

Went early (midday) to catch the low tide but beat the wind by a couple of hours. Had one bit of excitement when a squall came through, spent some time standing on the bank, got cold and packed it in. Strong wind warning tomorrow, fingers crossed. It'd be nice to use some small gear for a change.
Sounds like the boys up north had a tough day at the office so not complaining!
