10-22kts WSW Canton Beach, NSW, AU- level 0.64

4.5m Blade - 85ltre WT - 20cm fin

then

4.5m- WT 64 - 24cm FF

 finally 6.6m KA Koncept - WT64 - 24FF

Lumpy messy , 15 degrees with rain at times..

With 20-30kts forecast with rain and winds increasing later I decided to play it safe and go to Canton. At least if the rain killed the wind or it came in an extra 15kts it was onshore and  I could walk in..

Patchy 10-22kts plus with rain threatening when I got there. I played it safe and rigged the small kit . 1st time I've rigged the Blade.

Not much fun launching as there was a 3m wide mound of 1m high lumpy seagrass to carry the gear through and then the next 20m was full of weed and debris .. 10m from shore where it's usually thigh deep it was chest deep.

Nowhere near enough wind.. I staggered back through the shoreline obstacle course , tied the board to a tree in case the wind kicked in and got the WT64 setup ( 112ltres).

I was a bit worried about going over the front with the wave fin in the smaller board - there were lots of weed bombs and thick lines of weed.

The 4.5m was still not enough on the big board but I felt safer with the 50 degree  24FF in for the weed.

Staggered back in and tied the 4.5m to a tree then rigged the 6.6m. Last time I used it it rotated well but the cam didn't pop proeprly this time. I should have sorted it out on the shore but it was raining and I just wanted to get started!

Yay! Finally a good combo..Tongue outTongue out Powered well in the gusts and with the messy chop and backwash I didn't want to be flatout.

The board was comfy as and a lot of fun. I'm still sorting out my stance and harness line possy. My stance is very wide and it feels like the lines feel better if they are wider too?

I didn't try many gybes and I was pretty tired by the time I did but the board is very user friendly. I hit a weedbomb mid gybe on one but the FF managed to keep going with just a jerk.

Probably the most consistent session I've had with the board. I need to get fitter..Frown

The rain had really set in by now and killed the wind a little although it was still fun.

I could have sailed longer but I was buggered.

Derigged 2 boards and rigs and packed away in the rain. of course the rain stopped as soon as I was finished. Undecided

A kiter was sitting in the water not doing much with a mate supervising him. There was about 10kts at this stage.. I notice it's now supposed to be 20-25kts which may have made things "interesting" for him..

Only me ..Hope they clear all the seagrass from the beach.. there was even a large wooden sign washed up..

zzzz
