Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU

a nice little sail with pete(waricle)

was not going to bother today as it looked a bit patchy and i dont have a lot of motivation to sail

if it looks crap.

but glad that i did

some nice little bullets coming through that made it interesting.

used a 112 mistral slalom with the usual 33 tribal weedy and a 7.0 severne R8

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU Tabu speedster 138 koncept 6.2 reboxed tws31 First time on daddys new toy in a wide range of conditions from skunked to maxed out.  85 wde and it accelerates nicely and handles the choppy stuff too. Looking forward to trying with the KAR 7.9 and fangy fin. Combined with a very pleasant sail with Ratz to make it a top ten day

Fangyland with the Scud who was deadly with the Red Rooter today and took me out of contention early...

Post the tragedy later.Laughing

So the fin above was originally a solid casting and was converted to a balsa core with fibreglass surface. Over its lifetime I have experimented with the foil shape and in doing so thinned everything down to the point where the glass was excessively removed and the aluminium also reduced to the point of structural weakness. The fin had started flexing along the root and so I had no excuse, other than I thought it would fail gradually, not catastrophically. I was also surprised that the overlying fibreglass layer appears to have cleanly separated from the balsa as an adhesive failure rather than a cohesive failure in the balsa.
