I tought it was about 4 ,onths since my last slap, turns out is was a bit longer, last Slapper session 16th Feb.
and didn't it show.
Arms were pumped after the first run. Followed Mike over to Boombas and then watched him disappear on the way back waiting for the wind to pick up.
Pretty much the story of the day the gusts were nice but generally underdone.
Forgot how hard it is gybing with clown shoes and got a mast chop to the helmet to remind me.
Still with all the trials and tribulations it was a lot of fun, no rain a bit cold but some nice water and a great crew out as well.
Hope the next sail is sooner than 6 months away

1351 days ago Fun session at Ward Pt. I measure 14 to 27kts, and wind prdicted to increase, so went with the new 55 to get through the gusts and the 5,2 speed to handle the gusts, should have gone with the 5.7 as I was a bit under done, still I didn't spend any time standing around waiting for wind, although I did do a bit of dogging.
Wind was a perfect angle for a Cobblers launch, slight downwind run there and a bit of a tack back. Great to be joined by Waricle, Fangy, Elmo, Lombok, and later the fin. Being first there in the cold, I was naturally the last to get on the water. Made the mistake of following Fangy and Waricle on the way to Pt Grey. They both stopped in the chop in the channel as the wind dropped a tad. I kept going hoping to find some flat stuff at Pt Grey to gybe in. Didn't go downwind far enough and overshot the bank, so of course I dropped my gybe, then tried to find my way back. Headed for Dawesville instead of Cobblers. Then I saw the flat stuff at Pt Grey coming up fast, but the bank looked like it was almost out of the water, and not much flat the other side. It was obvious then, that Ward point was the better option, just had to get back there, took 5 short tacks.
I see now I should have stopped and looked for my old motion, I never did go back there for a look on a calm low tide day. I wonder if it's still there, all the weed has gone, that made it impossible to see when I lost it. But the weed may just have dragged the gps away with it, werever it went.

1350 days ago Oops, a combination of social events, general laziness and forgentia meant means this post is a little late. I hit Cobblers mid morning with a good crowd of Mobbers given the wind-chill and general lack of effort on the temperature gauge.
Unfortunately I over estimated what the average wind strength was and so was rewarded with a lot of standing on the bottom waiting for a strong enough gust to get going. And despite being warm enough upstairs, my feet went a bit numb from the cold and lack of action, making getting feet in the footstraps a bit more of challenge than usual.
First up, I tried a modified FF24 in the Missy Flow and Koncept 6.6. The fin was horrible, all drag and no lift - it was so bad I am not even sure I can resurrect it back to being useable, and I think that might be going back to the foundry to be recycled into something shiny and new. I whacked in the FF22 and that was beaut.
The resident underweights all seemed to be doing fine. Waricle was happy with his new CA toy and Lombok jumping around the place like a puppy with ADHD. As to be expected Elmo muppetised himself crashing somewhere, but the highlight of the day was a kiter trying to launch in the small and tree enclosed rigging area, complete with signs, BBQ’s , shelters and light poles with an unfavourable wind - thank goodness he eventually gave up on that before he hurt someone…
So all in all, not much sailing but good to have a banter with the Mobbers.
