Such a beautiful day to not be at work. My mate, Ed and Rick had the same idea and we planned to head down to the beach to see if a wind event that we had been watching for nearly a week would materialise. When Ed and I got down there we were looking at neap tide, blue sky, flat water and about 17knots. I was super keen to try my new 8m Gator on Fox 140 - and the conditions were spot on. I think the construction of this Gator is pretty much bomb proof and it will take some effort on my part to put a dent in it. Had to work pretty hard to stay upwind and just enjoyed the beautiful conditions. After about 90 minutes Rick turned up and the wind started to die down. Rick had brought the wrong sail - only a 6.5 - instead of his brand new Turbo GT 7m twin cam - which would have hit the spot. As I was now too fat to continue sailing - I let Ed use my gear and Rick used Ed's Fox 120 and 7m NCX. Those guys had a blast roaring around. Then Ed tried the big Gator on the Fox 120, and Rick used the NCX on the Fox 140. Lots and lots of fun in a breeze that deteriorated down to sub 15knots. Just a great session after a week of nothing - and, sadly, nothing on the horizon - looks like it's time to go fishing instead!
