Fangys with Strop and some Busso blow ins.

I anticipated a typical storm wind, so went with the 55cm board and 5.7 to handle the lighter wind in the flatter water, thinking of sitting out the squalls.

This worked quite well. But if we'd gone out a tad later when the water had dropped a bit and there was less chop, I may have been better on the 48 with the 5.2 and sitting out the lulls.

Anyway it was good to be in the harness all the time and just a bit overpowered at times. (I was in changing from the 23@40/60 fin to the 26@45 weedy, the 23 wasn't quite handling the 5.7 in the chop). So here's my tracks, this is a good windirection a speed run parallel to the shore, means I didn't have to go out in the chop. My back started to feel it when I did get in the chop.

better than a rinsing in the ocean ;)

Got there to find a couple of soft knotters had invaded the plot but not to worry as one look from me and they scarpered. Good to see Mike and catch up with Stroppo. I sailed bare foot as it was near summer conditions and i swear i could feel weed growth underneath.

The Scud was on site by 8:30am, it was bloody cold, windy and miserable. Happily, I had responsible parenting duties and a good dose of lethargy that kept me back until 10 ish. A bit more mucking around rigging meant it was just bloody cold with only passing patches of miserable by the time I hit the water. The tide was still high with the chop ranging from challenging to 'How is that even possible" bumpy at the river mouth. To add to the good times even the rain seemed to be harder and colder and sting my face more. I did a fair bit of sailing with my head turned back to protect my face and just squinting out of the corner of my eye to see where I was going.

At the start of the sesh the 5.8 was on the money, but I had increasing spells of standing around post squalls. I have been using the 7.8 or 8.6 of late, so the 5.8 felt tiny and was such a buzz to use again. The FF22 was on the big side with this sail, but given the water state it was nice to be confident that I wasn't going to unexpectedly go sideways. By the time afternoon social engagements meant I had to call it a day, the breeze was a 6.6 sort of level, the tide was falling and the water state starting to improve.

Stroppo came down for a visit and was very excited to tell me about his transition to WingDings and his complete loss of self respect in the process. At one point I thought I might have to give him a hug and tell him everything would be alright, but one of those unexpected bonuses of COVID19, social distancing, meant I dodged that uncomfortable bullet with a clear conscience. At one point I was worried the big fella was going to break out the boardies over his wettie, but in a stroke of luck for me, Strop was distracted when he realised he had left his new inflatable toy pump in his bedroom at home. I used the confusion to quickly pack up and clear out before Strop asked me to have a look a the new colour swatches for this seasons' WingDing fashion accessories...

All in all a quick and invigorating sesh, but crikey I am keen for some summertime breeze soon.Laughing

I stopped by got out of the car and promptly had to swallow hard to get rid of Nº 2&3 adams apples.

Far Kimy it was cold! I'd do hats of to you boys, but that beany was well and truely pulled down. I definately lack the desire for that.

Respect
